Beijing 2008 Olympic Opening Ceremony
Saturday, August 09, 2008
Totally astonished!
Yesterday I watched the Beijing 2008 opening ceremony.
I've never watched any Olympic opening ceremony before. However, this time I was so excited to watch. Maybe because this year's Olympic is held in Beijing, China. I did expect that it would be a really great show. But still, I was totally amazed.
I didn't manage to watch from the countdown... T_T I started watching from the entry of the Chinese National Flag. The whole performance was spectacular and fabulous. I was impressed by China's effort and hard-work in preparing everything. The performers, costumes, choreographs, properties, lighting, settings, effects, and especially the fireworks. It certainly took a lot of time, energy, and money. I heard that this was the most expensive Olympic opening ceremony in history. Well, I could understand why...
These are some photos from the opening ceremony...
splendid fireworks

"Starlight".
Performed by 1000 performers, with lots of small light bulbs on their costumes

The 1000 performers built a "bird's nest"

After the performances, was the parade of athletes...
USA delegation
The outfit they're wearing, were designed and sponsored by
Polo by Ralph Lauren
So stylish!

Climax of the ceremony: Light of Flame Cauldron
Gymnast Li Ning finished the last lap by 'running in the air'! How cool!
As the last torchbearer, he lighted the Cauldron
The parade of athletes took about 2 hours and was a bit boring. In the beginning, I only intended to wait for the delegation of Indonesia to appear. But it seemed so interesting to see all the athletes from all over the world gathering at the same place. Hence, I decided to watch the whole parade.
And this is how I saw him: Raphael Stacchiotti, the flag-bearer of Luxembourg. He is so cute, charming, attractive! And I believe I'm not the only one that think so. Many girls found him cute as well. I didn't expect that many would notice him, even asking about him on the net. Hahaha...
Later on, I found out that he is participating in the aquatics sport - swimming. Guess what? He's only 16 this year. Wow! Being able to participate in the Olympics in such a young age, even as the flag-bearer.. Impressive!

The Eight of The Eight of The Eight - Beijing 2008 Olympic

The triple eight...
The Chinese believe that each numbers have their own meaning. As for "eight", is associated with "prosper", "wealth", or "fortune"
Hence, most of the people think that triple eight is great number, and this triple-eight-day would be a great day
Maybe that's why Beijing 2008 Olympic is started on this day.
HOWEVER, today is not a great day for me
This morning I had studio practice class at 9 am. We were supposed to present our interior and exterior boards to the class. I thought that only a few groups that would be selected to present, and class would end faster like what happened this whole week. But I was totally wrong. All groups had to present and class finished even later that it's supposed to be. My group was in the first batch, so we finished presenting much earlier. It was so boring to sit down and listen to the rest of the groups for about 2 hours
After having lunch, I went to the bank by myself to buy cash order for paying my school fee. I wish my sister would accompany me, but she keeps saying, "Do not always depend on me. You have to learn by yourself." Oh well, alright. I can understand that. But I was so stupid for not thinking that I will need her signature to buy the cash order.
In conclusion, I went to the bank, queued, wasting my time... for nothing.
At night, when I was crossing the street to buy some food for dinner, my left foot was jogged (kesenggol) by someone. I turned my head around and reflexly said sorry, even-though I know that it wasn't my fault. But the person who jogged my foot - who happened to be a young lady - unexpectedly said, "Ck!" with a really irritating and annoying facial expression. Not even a simple 'sorry' from her. HELLOOO...! You were the one at fault but you showed that kind of face to me???
Enough for today. I was so pissed-off...
I better returned home quickly and sat down before the TV, watching the Beijing 2008 Olympic opening ceremony...
